Fridays. Birthdays, and Wedding Plans

Fifth week of internship= almost done! Only one more client left today. Boy am I exhausted! I could barely get out of bed this morning...and when I did I didn't get to moving very fast. I took my time, ate some waffles and watched some of the Little Couple that was on the DVR, packed my lunch, grabbed my coffee and left for the office...only to forget my laptop. Ah! My mom thankfully, brought it to me on the way back from group. It wouldn't have been the end of the world to not have it for a day, most of my essentials are in my binder I keep at work, but I do have plenty to do on my the computer during the day. Like writing on my blog! haha ;-)

This week has had its ups and downs. I did observe a lot of new things. Who would have known there are still new things to find after 5 weeks of the same routine?? A client got sick in a group session (thankfully she got to the bathroom in time...kind of...), another client scratched a sore till he bled, another was falling asleep because of low oxygen levels, and another had an accident while sitting in the waiting room before his session...yikes! I did get to meet a new client this week. Well, he's new to me. He missed a month of sessions, three were canceled by him and one by the MT here. The power of music was amazing for him! Severe autism, almost nonverbal but with music therapy he said words and phrases, followed music (adapted for him), played chords on the piano, and identified letters and words! It was great to finally meet him :) Another special moment this week was when a teenage client came in the door and handed me a picture she had colored for me! Simba, from the Lion King, colored blue with a red tail. Beautiful! I felt really special. I'm glad to be getting to know all the clients pretty well and they are warming up to me too :)

In other news, yesterday was my mom's birthday. Since 1)I don't have a job and 2) I work all day (ironic, right?), I decided to make her dinner. Luis picked up some birthday treats while I was at work and when I got home, he and I got to work on making Smothered Chicken. It took about an hour and a half for me to make dinner...but we ended up with a really yummy supper! Chicken, baked potatoes, and steamed asparagus. And birthday cake of course! Luis and I decorated with balloons and birthday confetti. The house looked and smelled great! Dinner was done by 7:30 and everyone seemed to like it. It was just a small family dinner- me, Luis, Mom, and Dad, but it was a good time :)

Wedding plans are coming along slowly...still...but I'm hoping to get some stuff nailed down this weekend and next Friday when I have a day off. Me and my bridesmaids are going to a bridesmaid dress show at a local bridal shop in two weeks. I'm pretty excited! I'll be missing a bridesmaid...it sucks when your best friend lives halfway across the country :( But that's what the internet and phones are for, thank goodness! :)

Have a great weekend!
