Well hello again blog world! It's a new year, and a new resolution to keep up my posting more regularly...here we go.
To catch ya'll up, life has been up and down and all around, in general. I had a fantastic Christmas break! A break from work, school, and a heck of a lot of normal responsibility that comes with living in the city and going to school. My car, Cavi, had a melt down...ahem, I mean, I wrecked her a bit and she died on me :( My first wreck, and I was the one with the melt down! I hope I never have that experience again, it was no fun to say the least. So, long story short, my parents bought a new car over break and they are graciously letting me borrow it for the time being. They are so gracious and loving, and I'm so thankful for all that they do for me! The new car, Vanessa as I have now named her, is a 2011 Nissan Versa (get it? Nissan. Versa. VANESSA...ha!). What color is it you ask? Espresso. Yes, coffee. It's a beautiful dark (shimmery!) brown, that looks black at night. I absolutely love it and wish I could call it mine... :)
I'm in my last semester of college, and looking forward to what the future holds :) My ideal plan for the near future: I will actually be walking at graduation in May, then I'll take a summer class, have the fall "off," and then start an internship at a children's hospital in January 2012! I haven't been accepted for the internship yet, but other than that this plan looks pretty promising :)
So, there's that. And then, there's the title to this post. Those are the words that flooded my head when I came back from break and when straight to my ministry team retreat last weekend. I was definitely convicted of my lack of quiet time with God. I've never been "good" at the whole quiet time and meditation on scripture...but that's no excuse. Nevertheless, sitting in fellowship with other believers talking about what God has been doing in their lives and in the lives of students on campus really made me question my spiritual life...and I realized, I had neglected it. God just spoke quietly in my heart for those two days. I loved every minute of the retreat and really enjoyed the time in prayer that we spent. At the end of those two days I was like, "Oh, hi God!"
Now, I am seeking accountability...and I am actually looking forward to the 7am texts I will be getting from dear friends of mine this week that will be holding me accountable to spend time with God and in His word, and I will do the same in return.
